| | Painting and drawing has been a vital part of human expression since the ancient cave dwellers of Spain, France, Nigeria and other ancient civilizations. Steven Weitzman created his early paintings using traditional oil methods, which included under painting, careful brushstrokes, glazing and the occasional use of a palette knife. His recent works have expanded to include more immediate applications of paint. Many of his paintings are done with oil sticks, solid tubes composed of pigment, linseed oil and wax, which are applied directly on canvas or paper. Most of his drawings are created using large pieces of graphite on oversized sheets of paper. His two-dimensional works also include monotypes and intaglio prints. |
